Plesk license - TuxCare extension

What is TuxCare
TuxCare is a security extension integrated into the ELS (Extended Lifecycle Support) program, designed to provide ongoing security patches for operating systems that have reached the end of their official support cycle (End of Life - EOL), thus allowing the continued operation of Plesk instances.

When is it automatically activated
The TuxCare extension is automatically installed when the operating systems that are no longer officially supported by the vendor are found:
  • CentOS 7
  • Ubuntu 20.04
  • Debian 10

How does automatic activation of TuxCare work
  • FORPSI checks which operating system the machine uses;
  • if it is detected as EOL, the TuxCare extension is automatically installed in the Plesk panel;
  • the extension starts working without the need for reboots or service interruptions.
How to check if the TuxCare extension is active
To check if the extension is active on your Plesk instance, follow these steps:
  • sign in to the Plesk panel as administrator;
  • go to Extensions;
  • search for TuxCare ELS in the list;
  • if it is displayed, the extension is active;
  • it cannot be manually deactivated.
How to avoid additional costs
To avoid the activation and the resulting additional costs of the TuxCare extension, follow these steps:
  • perform a full backup of your instance;
  • update the operating system to a version that is still supported;
  • once completed, the TuxCare extension will be automatically removed.
