Migration of webhosting to a new cluster solution for Linux

To ensure higher stability and service availability, we are gradually migrating webhosting servers to a modern Linux cluster solution.
This step is necessary due to outdated software on the current servers and brings a number of benefits.

Reason for migration and benefits of the new solution

The new solution is based on a cluster architecture, which allows greater stability and better load distribution.
For customers, this means:

  • Higher availability and resistance to outages thanks to cluster operation.
  • Up-to-date technologies:
  • Long-term support: regular updates and faster implementation of new features.
  • Better performance thanks to optimized environment and modern servers.

Migration process

  • The migration is carried out by our technicians, no action is required from the customer – however, we recommend testing your website in advance, see below.
  • The server IP address will remain unchanged.
  • Website content and settings will be transferred without changes.
  • The expected duration of any downtime is a maximum of 15 minutes.

Testing before migration

You can already test the functionality of your website on the new solution by temporarily modifying the hosts file on your computer.

Add the following entry to the hosts file:

185.129.138.202 your-domain.tld www.your-domain.tld
A detailed guide on how to edit the hosts file can be found here:

Changing the PHP version

On the new solution, you will have access to current PHP versions. You can set or change the PHP version via your customer administration according to the guide:

After the automatic migration is completed, there will be changes in PHP versions according to this table:

Current versionNew version
5.2.17no change
5.3.28
5.3.29
5.4.45
no change
5.5.37no change
5.6.305.6.40
7.0.177.0.30
7.1.33no change
7.2.307.2.34
7.3.177.3.33
7.4.67.4.33

Change of outgoing IP addresses

After the migration is completed, the outgoing IP addresses used by the webhosting servers for external communication (for example, when calling API services, payment gateways, etc.) will change.

If you have IP-based access restrictions set in your systems, we recommend expanding the list of allowed addresses with the new values before the migration. The original addresses will remain functional until the migration is finished, so no outages will occur:

HTTP IP address
Outgoing IP addresses
Network range
185.129.138.202
185.129.138.205
185.129.138.206
185.129.138.207
185.129.138.208
185.129.138.209
185.129.138.210
185.129.138.211
185.129.138.192/27

More information about outgoing communication as well as an overview of IP addresses and network ranges can be found in a separate article:

Summary

The migration to the new cluster solution provides our customers with a more stable and higher-performance environment with access to modern technologies.
The entire process is carried out by our technicians without customer intervention. However, we recommend testing your website using the hosts file to ensure the smoothest possible migration.
